Pipe & Drape

Pipe and drape is a system of pipes and drapes used to create a temporary backdrop or partition in a space. The pipes are typically made of metal and are used to support the drapes, which are made of a lightweight fabric such as muslin or polyester.

Pipe and drape can be used for a variety of purposes, including dividing a large space into smaller sections, creating a backdrop for a stage or event, or blocking off an area for privacy. It is often used at events such as trade shows, conventions, and weddings.

Pipe and drape systems typically include the following components:

  • Uprights: These are the vertical pipes that support the drapes. They come in different heights and can be adjusted to fit the desired height of the drapes.

  • Crossbars: These are the horizontal pipes that connect the uprights and support the drapes. They come in different lengths and can be adjusted to fit the desired width of the drapes.

  • Drapes: These are the fabric panels that hang from the crossbars. They come in different colors and can be customized with logos or other designs.

  • Bases: These are the weights or stands that support the uprights and keep the pipe and drape system stable.. If you need something you don’t see here, please fill out our product inquiry form. We will do our best to fulfill your request!

. Banjo Drapes: this type of drape has a medium sheen and features an open weave (strong, yet sheer fabric). The cloth itself is inherently flame retardant and is usually used for corporate events and trade shows, but they can be used for just about any event.

  • Premier Drapes: premier offer a bit more class and are most commonly used as curtains for a school, business, banquet hall, or church. These are also inherently flame retardant.

  • Commando Drapes: mostly only available in black, this drape is perfect for economical privacy drapes, blocking out 99% of light when backlit. Commando drapes feel similar to suede and are usually used for dressing rooms or conditions needing to be blacked out.

  • Velour Drapes: velour drapes are the most flame retardant of the bunch and come in polyester. We usually see these used for VIP events and theatrical performances, but they can really be used for anything—just like the others.

Here are some general guidelines for calculating the number of drapes and pipes needed:

  • Determine the length of the drapes: Drapes are typically available in lengths of 8 feet, 10 feet, or 12 feet. Measure the height of the area where the drapes will be hung and choose the drape length that will provide the best coverage.

  • Determine the spacing between the pipes: Pipes are typically spaced 8 feet, 10 feet, or 12 feet apart. Choose the spacing that will provide the best coverage and support for the drapes.

  • Calculate the number of drapes needed: Divide the total length of the area where the drapes will be hung by the length of the drapes. This will give you the number of drapes needed.

  • Calculate the number of pipes needed: Divide the total length of the area where the drapes will be hung by the spacing between the pipes. This will give you the number of pipes needed.
